The hotel’s construction and operations will create jobs and spur economic activity in the Hyde Park community. Please look for us at the 4th Ward Job Fair on May 15, 2013 to learn more.
The hotel construction will create 150 to 200 union construction jobs, nearly one third of which will be placed with local minority and women-owned businesses. Hotel construction is projected to commence September 2013.
When the hotel opens in September 2013, approximately 30 permanent, living wage jobs will be created.
COMMUNITY-BASED RECRUITMENT PROGRAM
The hotel has partnered with the Chicago Service Works to develop a recruiting and training program in hospitality targeted to community residents. This effort will kick-off at the 4th Ward Job Fair on May 15, 2013. Chicago Service Works focuses on creating training and employment opportunities in hospitality by offering career screening & counseling, job search assistance, and industry training.
NEW TAX REVENUE
It is estimated that the hotel project will generate a total of $3.6 million in hotel, sales, and parking taxes in the first ten years alone.
INCREASED NEIGHBORHOOD SPENDING
Attracting nearly 50,000 overnight guests to Hyde Park each year, the hotel will generate increased pedestrian traffic and boost spending at local restaurants, stores, and other venues.
